ASUS G71GX-RX05 17.1-Inch Refurbished Laptop - Black/Red Review
I bought one of these and shipped it to Australia back in April the last time the Aussie Dollar was good, it's now even better.
I wanted a laptop that would double up as a games machine with friends on private network( Mw1 Mw2 etc.)
This machine has coped with everything maxed out , albeit I haven't bothered with crysis...
You can acquire one of these and have it delivered to your door ca 0AUD at time of this review using PriceUsa in australia... A Mackam warranty for 3 years can be got from logical blue one for ca aud...
Back to the machine...it has three downsides.
1) Its huge and heavy (I like huge)..I use it sometimes for big presentations at work.
2) Its really power hungry and will eat its battery in under an hour easily (so I use it near a powerpoint...)
3) The graphics card runs hot, very hot...but it is designed to...being refurbed any possible bios issue is already sorted. Make sure you leave the vents clear and you run it on a surface that will allow heat to escape, not pillows!
Apart from that its Asus, its built solid and tough and makes pc gaming fun again.
The ONLY thing with mine is that the utility to overclock doesn't seem to work (disabled in refurb?)but I'm more than happy with the 2.53GHZ this thing already churns out.
Refurb seems scary but at least you know its been sorted twice!
Anyhow find a cheaper laptop with these specs and I will eat American Chocolate despite the ensuing gag reflex.
In summary..Amazon US I salute you! Of course you can easily spend double on something 20% quicker...law of diminshing returns....mmmmm
